The Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, ASCE 7-02, gives current requirements for dead, live, soil, flood, wind, snow, rain, ice, and earthquake loads, and their combinations, that are suitable for inclusion in building codes and other documents.

ASCE 7-02 is a complete revision of ASCE 7-98. ASCE 7-02 includes all significant changes made to the following provisions:

* earthquake
* wind
* snow
* ice
* flood

SPECIAL NOTE: The Earthquake Load Provisions in SEI / ASCE 7-02 are, for the first time, now substantially adopted by reference in the 2003 International Building Code and the 2002 NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code. All other ASCE 7 provisions continue to be referenced in the 2003 International Building Code. Also included is a detailed commentary on the standard, containing explanatory and supplementary information designed to assist building code committees and regulatory authorities.

Architects, structural engineers, and those engaged in preparing and administering local building codes will find the structural load requirements provided by this standard essential. The document uses both Systeme International (SI) units and customary units.
